Who are the champions,
Those who carry all the weight,
Heavier than the previous,
Almighty and serious?
Who are the winners,
Those whose names
Ring through the ages,
Or have many written pages?
I’m trying to forget
What I’ve been conditioned towards
That living simply isn’t being a failure
That wanting to enjoy things isn’t a sin
That making mistakes doesn’t undermine
What I might really have within
And that everyone has a heavy weight
Yet they wake up and bring
A little warmth to another being,
And maybe we can’t all be world champions
But we’re heavy weight contenders
Holding each day as our belts
Striding to another ring
Very well knowing we might not always win

I talk to people and sometimes it looks and feels so easy and some days it’s like I can’t even see what’s worth it. I guess those ups and downs makes me grateful that there are both. I know that some people aren’t as lucky and are so used to the lows that they probably don’t ever see the light. I hope that this writing at the very least helps bring some spark of hope.
